The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing inventory, purchasing, pricing strategy, and supplier relationships within a lumber yard, building supply company, or construction materials environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing and inventory strategy for lumber, building materials, hardware, and related product categories
• Monitor inventory levels, product movement, and sales trends to ensure proper stock levels across locations
• Develop pricing and merchandising strategies to support sales growth and margin performance
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating pricing and promotional opportunities
• Analyze sales and inventory data to guide purchasing decisions and optimize inventory turnover
• Collaborate with branch managers and department leaders to ensure product assortment aligns with customer demand
• Conduct periodic visits to store locations to review product displays, stock levels, and merchandising standards
• Identify opportunities to expand product lines or improve category performance based on market trends
• Support operational teams in maintaining organized inventory and efficient product flow

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in building materials, lumber supply, hardware distribution, or construction materials retail
• Experience managing inventory, purchasing, or merchandising within a multi-location environment preferred
• Strong understanding of lumber, building products, and contractor supply markets
• Proven ability to analyze sales data and make informed purchasing decisions
• Experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
• Proficiency with inventory management systems, POS platforms, or ERP systems
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between locations as needed
